Our History
Launched in early 1999, Thrifty Car Sales, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Thrifty, Inc., which also owns Thrifty Rent-A-Car System, Inc., the franchisor of Thrifty Car Rental. Thrifty Car Rental, whose history reaches back to 1958, is a leader worldwide in the car rental industry. Thrifty, Inc. is part of the Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group (NYSE: DTG), which also owns Dollar Rent A Car.

Thrifty Car Sales franchises retail used car sales dealerships throughout the United States. We offer businessmen and women an entrepreneurial opportunity to leverage the competitive advantages provided by a franchise system to build an independently owned and operated business while providing retail customers with the peace of mind that comes from doing business with a national brand name and business system.

Thrifty Car Sales dealerships offer a wide range of late model, low mileage vehicles — most makes and models — including vehicles from the Thrifty Car Rental fleet, as well as those purchased from other vehicle supply sources. Thrifty Certified® vehicles pass extensive inspection and come backed by a limited warranty. Thrifty Car Sales dealers also offer Thrifty Care® extended service contracts, financing, trade-ins and more.
